A Distributed Coordinated Control Scheme for Morphing Wings with Sampled Communication
AbstractTo investigate the control of morphing wings by means of interacting effectors, this article proposes a distributed coordinated control scheme with sampled communication on the basis of a simple morphing wing model, established with arrayed agents. The control scheme can change the shape of airfoil into an expected one and keep it smooth during morphing. As the interconnection of communication network and the agents would make the behavior of the morphing wing system complicated, a diagrammatic stability analysis method is put forward to ensure the system stability. Two simulations are carried out on the morphing wing system by using MATLAB. The results stand witness to the feasibility of the distributed coordinated control scheme and the effectiveness of the diagrammatic stability analysis method
China Question of Western Postcolonial Translation Theory
“China Question of Western Postcolonial Translation Theory” deals with how western postcolonial translation theory is read, interpreted and applied in China, as well as how the reception in China influences revision and development of the theory. Western postcolonial translation theory, though frequently quoted and highly influential in China, is sometimes incapable of effectively explaining Chinese translation practice and convincing Chinese readers. Based on the analysis of the encounter between postcolonial translation theory and China, three suggestions are proposed to revise translation theory so as to build a “greener,” healthier hetero-generative ecology of languages and cultures
Bevölkerungsentwicklung in China.

Innovation outcomes of knowledge-seeking Chinese foreign direct investment
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to investigates how organizational learning, absorptive capacity, cultural integration, specialization of the acquired firm and characteristics of transferred knowledge impact innovation performance subsequent to overseas acquisitions. Design/methodology/approach
Survey responses from 222 Chinese multinational enterprises engaged in overseas acquisitions. Findings
Differences between acquiring and acquired firms’ capabilities, while having a positive direct influence, suppress the positive impact of organizational learning and absorptive capacity, suggesting that multinationals require some basic level of capabilities to appropriate value from overseas acquisitions. Research limitations/implications
This paper investigates the impact of knowledge-seeking overseas acquisition of Chinese multinationals on innovation performance, as this appears to be the primary motive for making such acquisitions. Practical implications
Knowledge-seeking overseas acquisition should be based upon the absorptive capacity of the acquiring firm and complementarity between both firms. In knowledge-seeking overseas acquisitions, establishing an effective organizational learning mechanism is necessary for improving innovation performance. Originality/value
This paper reports on the behaviour and innovation performance of Chinese multinationals through analysis of primary data
Exploring the Value of Pre-trained Language Models for Clinical Named Entity Recognition
The practice of fine-tuning Pre-trained Language Models (PLMs) from general
or domain-specific data to a specific task with limited resources, has gained
popularity within the field of natural language processing (NLP). In this work,
we re-visit this assumption and carry out an investigation in clinical NLP,
specifically Named Entity Recognition on drugs and their related attributes. We
compare Transformer models that are trained from scratch to fine-tuned
BERT-based LLMs namely BERT, BioBERT, and ClinicalBERT. Furthermore, we examine
the impact of an additional CRF layer on such models to encourage contextual
learning. We use n2c2-2018 shared task data for model development and
evaluations. The experimental outcomes show that 1) CRF layers improved all
language models; 2) referring to BIO-strict span level evaluation using
macro-average F1 score, although the fine-tuned LLMs achieved 0.83+ scores, the
TransformerCRF model trained from scratch achieved 0.78+, demonstrating
comparable performances with much lower cost - e.g. with 39.80\% less training
parameters; 3) referring to BIO-strict span-level evaluation using
weighted-average F1 score, ClinicalBERT-CRF, BERT-CRF, and TransformerCRF
exhibited lower score differences, with 97.59\%/97.44\%/96.84\% respectively.
4) applying efficient training by down-sampling for better data distribution
further reduced the training cost and need for data, while maintaining similar
scores - i.e. around 0.02 points lower compared to using the full dataset. Our
